Liturgical Ministries

Volunteers help staff and other ministries with a variety of projects at different times throughout the year. Projects vary and are regular, intermittent, or one-time assistance, but all help to accomplish good works.

Altar Servers

Altar Servers are chosen from the faithful youth who display a desire to participate in a more intimate way during the holy sacrifice of the Mass.

It is an extreme privilege to assist the priest during the Mass and to kneel in the sanctuary as our loving savior, Jesus Christ, becomes truly present, body, blood, soul and divinity.

Your behavior and accomplishment are signs of your faith and your love for God and God’s people.

Our parish is deeply grateful for the altar servers and are always looking for new altar servers. Please consider this important ministry.

If you would like to serve your community at the Mass, then being an Altar Server is for you! Please call 898-5253 ext 2 to talk to Deacon Michael about scheduling a training session.

Lectors

Lectors serve the community by proclaiming the Word of God to the community during the Mass. Lectors are generally responsible for being in the sacristy 30 minutes prior to Mass to practice the readings, finding a substitute if you are going to be absent for your scheduled time, proclaiming the first and second reading and the Responsorial Psalms as necessary during the Mass.

Ministers of Hospitality/ Ushers

Looking for a way to serve the Lord? Do you enjoy helping people? Do you like collecting money? How about being an Usher?

This may be the right job for you! As an usher, you greet people as they enter the sanctuary and hand out the weekly bulletins after Mass. You also help people find a place to sit and collect the offering. Training is provided.

Ushers need to be at Church 30 Minutes before Mass to greet the people.

Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion

MASS DISTRIBUTION

During Holy Communion, the faithful receive the Body of Christ and the Blood of Christ, either under one or both species. The minister offers the host, saying "The Body of Christ," and the communicant responds, "Amen." The communicant then receives the host on the tongue or in the hand. The same process is followed for the chalice.

Requirements: To be an extraordinary minister of Holy Communion, one must be Catholic over the age of 18, have received all the Sacraments of Initiation (Baptism, Confirmation and First Eucharist), be in good standing with the Church, and complete the required formation and training. Specific requirements like being a registered parishioner, attending Mass regularly, and being in a valid marriage (if applicable) also apply.

MINISTRY TO THE HOMEBOUND

EA homebound communion ministry involves trained volunteers (often called Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion) who bring the Body of Christ to parishioners who cannot attend Mass due to illness or other reasons. These visits provide spiritual support thought Communion, prayer, and a friendly connection, helping the homebound feel a sense of belonging and receive the comfort and concern of the church community.
