Faith Formation - OCIA
OCIA Coordinador: Danielle Rodriguez at ocia@n-bvm.org
Welcome!
Our parish offers the Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA) as our process to bring adults and children over the age of 7 into full communion with the Church. This process is available for people who have not been baptized, people originally baptized into other faiths as well as people baptized Catholic but never catechized in the faith. This includes people who were raised in other faiths or those who never attended any kind of faith formation.
Anyone can begin the formation process at any time. The program takes at least two years to complete but can take longer if needed. We emphasize moving at the pace of the learner and growing a loving relationship with Jesus and a good foundation in Catholicism. The program culminates with reception into the Church at the Easter Vigil. Adult classes meet on Sundays at 2 PM. Our Youth Program meets on Sundays from 10:45 AM to 12:15 PM and includes Mass from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM. The Youth Program calendar is the same as the catechism calendar.
The OCIA Program focuses on all aspects of the Catholic faith to include, the seven Sacraments, our belief in the transubstantiation during the sacrament of the Eucharist, the communion of saints, our veneration of the Blessed Mother and many other aspects of particular interest to the Catholic faith.
